🌍 Overview

Amboseli National Park is located in southern Kenya, near the border with Tanzania, and is world-famous for its stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro — Africa’s highest peak — and its large herds of elephants that roam freely across the park’s vast plains.

Covering approximately 392 square kilometers, Amboseli is one of Kenya’s smallest but most spectacular national parks — offering some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa, especially for elephants and big cats, with the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro as a dramatic backdrop.

Amboseli has a rich cultural and conservation history:

  • Maasai Heritage — the park is located in Maasai land, and the Maasai people have lived in harmony with wildlife for centuries
  • Conservation Legacy — Amboseli was one of Kenya’s first national parks, established in 1948
  • Kilimanjaro Connection — the park’s name comes from the Maasai word “Empusel,” meaning “salty dust” — referring to the dry lakebeds

“Amboseli is where the wild meets the sky — where elephants walk in the shadow of a mountain that touches the clouds, and every sunset paints the savanna in gold.”
